North West Wales Health & Safety Group

Alan Butler Awards

The North West Wales Health and Safety Group (NWWHSG) is a self-help, non-profit organisation. It is registered with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and consists of members from a wide range of employers and organisations, both large and small from all areas of North Wales.

The Group was originally established by local employers to support one another in order to promote good health and safety practices in the workplace. The Group normally meets on the second Wednesday of each month (at least 9 times a year) at Bangor University. All the Talks are given by Safety Professionals, Health and Safety Executive Inspectors or Specialist Advisors on a range of topics - covering current concerns, members' interests and new developments.

The 'Talks' provide a forum for members to discuss and receive information on new and existing legislation and good practices which affect safety and health in the workplace. They also enable members to meet other local employers and organisations who work in a similar field, creating a support network and allowing the exchange of ideas and health and safety solutions.

The cost of Membership is minimal (usually circa £25 a year) which is used to cover the running expenses of the Group, with any surplus funds used to subsidize additional events eg. conferences.
